Born in Dublin in 1959, Dermot’s ten novels include The Journey Home, The Woman’s Daughter, The Family on Paradise Pier andNew Town Soul, his first book for young adults which was published this June.

His award-winning plays have been staged in many countries and his latest play, The Parting Glass, was premiered this summer.

A poet who has published seven volumes of poetry, including the recent External Affairs, he has edited many anthologies, includingThe Picador Book of Contemporary Irish Fiction, devised the best selling collaborartive novel, Finbar’s Hotel and is a regular contributor to Ireland’s leading newspapers.
