John Walsh is a Longford-born Flamenco & Classical guitarist based in Dublin . He began classical and flamenco guitar training with Johnny Hockedy in Limerick.
After obtaining a Diploma in classical guitar from Trinity College London, he continued his studies in flamenco with Francisco Garcia in Dublin.
In 2008 he traveled to Algeciras, Spain to study with the brilliant guitarist Salvador Andrades, taking private tuition as well as playing in Salvador’s academy of flamenco, ‘Arte y Compas’.
John was one of the 10 musicians chosen for the 2009 ‘Musicians of the Future’ concert in the National Concert Hall(John Field Room) performing 2 original compositions.
In 2008 he was invited to perform in the National Concert Hall Dublin and the Millennium Theatre Limerick supporting the Garcia Flamenco National tour.
He has given solo performances throughout Ireland in venues such as the RDS, The Boyle Arts Festival, Bewley’s Cafe Theatre, Guinness Storehouse, Kilkenny Castle, Charleville Castle, Liberty Hall, Backstage Theatre, Dun Laoghaire festival of World Cultures, Bray Arts Festival and various venues in Dublin.
Currently performing throughout the country as a solo artist and in a duo with guitarist Lucas Gonzalez.
