Abbeyfest 2010 will be taking place under the direction of a fully integrated Sustainability Strategy.

The Strategy is currently being developed in order to sustainably manage all aspects of the festival that may go on to have an adverse impact on the local environment should a coordinated plan had not been put in place.

We’re currently looking at a number of aspects such as travel, water and energy consumption and waste management and sustainable mitigation measures are being developed to limit the effect of each on the local environment In conjunction to highlighting specific mitigation measures for each particular aspect.

Our strategy will also place a strong emphasis on raising awareness amongst the young and old of the community to the effects climate change and aim to highlight simple measures we can all take during our day to day lives to limit any adverse impact on our local environment.

The development of the  ’Abbeyfest Sustainability Strategy’, demonstrates the commitment of the festivals organisers, participants and the local community to a more sustainable future for all.

The Abbeyfest Sustainability Strategy is currently under development and will be made available for all organisers, suppliers and people coming along to the event via the website.
