Following the resounding success of the inaugural Abbeyfest in June 2009, the festival will return to the streets of Abbeyleix on June 11,12 and 13  with a bumper weekend of music, comedy ,film, theatre, visual art and family fun.

Abbeyfest is a community festival that aims to promote and celebrate the town of Abbeyleix, its businesses, heritage, culture and artists. It is a festival run by the community for the community.

The festival will run over three days in June and as well as showcasing the work of local artists and musicians Abbeyfest proposes to bring a small selection of high calibre artistic work from a number of disciplines to the town.  Abbeyfest will inhabit the town as much as possible over the weekend utilising the pubs, hotel, cafes, restaurants, shops, library, the park to present visual art, craft, dance, street theatre and local and national musicians to include traditional, rock, world and classical music.
