‘PLACES’ – Bramleys

This exhibition sees the coming together of four practicing artists in the disciplines of painting, textiles and ceramics. Three of the artists Jackie Carter, Jock Nichol and Edel O Keeffe are tutors in the Art Department of Abbeyleix Further Education Centre.

The fourth artist Aisling Keating has been a visiting professional artist to the centre for the past two years. The group has been toying with the idea of having a group exhibition for a number of months and Abbeyfest offered the perfect opportunity to follow through on this idea.

While each artist works in different media there are clear connections with the work. Places are of significant importance to each individual artist but explored in four very different ways. Memories, time, changes, boundaries and local environments are all explored by the four artists. The exhibition will open on Friday morning in the muse of Bramleys, main Street Abbeyleix.

STUDENT EXHIBITION – McDonnells / PM Services

Art, Craft and Design students from Abbeyleix Further Education Centre will exhibit a selection of their work over the Abbeyfest weekend. The students will take over two venues to display their varied work. McDonnells old shop in the square will display a small selection of work, while the PM Services building on the Carlow road will house the remainder of the exhibition.
